Pīwakawaka is a cosy, rustic geodesic dome with sweeping Danseys Pass views and a private hot tub. Inside you’ll find a king bed with quality cotton linen, a comfy couch, wood-burning fireplace, private bathroom and bunk beds for children. The kitchenette includes induction cooking, microwave, air fryer and fridge. Outside, enjoy the rustic shower, peaceful mountain views and a relaxed high-country escape.

Location
There are two ways to reach us in Danseys Pass:
From Duntroon / Oamaru side
This is the easiest and most reliable route, especially during winter. Travel through Duntroon and follow Danseys Pass Road into the valley. The road is unsealed for part of the journey but is suitable for 2WD vehicles.
From Naseby / Central Otago side
You can also reach us via Naseby and travel over Danseys Pass itself. This is a beautiful scenic drive, but the mountain section can be affected by snow, ice or seasonal road closures during winter.
When travelling during winter, please check whether the Naseby side is open. We generally recommend arriving via the Duntroon side and checking road conditions before using the Naseby route.
Danseys Pass also makes a great stop between some of the South Island’s most popular destinations. We’re roughly 3 hours from Queenstown, 2.5–3 hours from Wānaka, around 4 hours from Christchurch, and about 2.5 hours from Aoraki / Mount Cook.
It’s a lovely place to break up a longer South Island road trip — stay a night or two, slow down, enjoy the high country, and then continue on refreshed.
Once you reach the property, look out for our purple gates and follow the signs to the accommodation.
